It was a Great year for the women!! Our 1st call of the year came from Kathy and Wayne Allen of Mich. Kathy was excited to tell me she shot her 1st bear and it turned out to be the biggest of the year tipping the scales at almost 400 lbs. It was an old boar that had 1/2 an ear ripped off. Kathy made a great shot with her 270.
Ellen Robb of Ohio also took her 1st Bear with her shotgun with husband Ron by her side, the bear didn't go far at all, nice shot Ellen!!!
Husband and wife team of Bill and Deb Dunn from NY. both shot bears, Deb shooting her 1st bear and Bill with his famous stock again this year, Deb was happy to hear that her bear was 10 lbs heavier than Bills!!
Al Haas' apprentice hunter, daughter Mellissa shot her 1st bear with dad and video cam by her side with a muzzleloader, both were very excited what a great shot!!
The boys from ontario did well again shooting 6 and missing one, Brad will redeem himself in 2008, Jeff once again makes things exciting shooting a very nice boar on video. He got down a little early though to find his bear on his feet again and trying to get away a second arrow downed him for good. This bear was tagged in the spring in a research study in algonquin park and travelled south well over 60 miles to Jeffs bait!!
It was nice to meet 2 new groups this year, Jacks from Ind. and Chris Darlings from PA. both groups had some tough hunting and went home 1 for 3 each.
The Boys from Mass. had a great year taking 7 bears home missing one and had 35 sightings for 10 hunters!
It was another very successful season and looks great for 2008, can't wait for the opening day!!
